All pumps are ready to anticipate the flood peak which predicted to happen in January 2015
Head of East Jakarta Water Management Sub-Department, Henry Dunant, said the 42 water pumps consist of 22 pumps installed in 8 pump houses and 17 mobile pumps. The capacity of each pump to suck the water is varied, ranging from 75 liters per second to 1,000 liters per second.
“All pumps are ready to anticipate the flood peak which predicted to happen in January 2015,” he stated, Monday (12/1).
City Gears Up to Anticipate Flooding in 62 AreasAccording to Dunant, the constraints which often faced by his party in flood anticipation are the piles of trashes in the drains that eventually clogging water flows in sluices and water pumps. As a result, water could overflow onto the road in a matter of seconds, as happened on Jalan DI Panjaitan.
“Thus, we had to clean up the trashes so the pumps would work optimally,” he told.
